Apple to merge Mac Mini and Apple TV

As with any blog with at least a feint interest in Apple, I feel it obligatory to offer my predictions for Apple’s product announcements on Tuesday at the Macworld Expo 2009.

I have read many rumours regarding an updated Mac Mini and I have encountered whispers of the death of Apple TV. However, I’d like to air my views on the direction that I’d like Apple to take on these two consumer products.

If a Mac Mini had a large hard drive and ran a reduced operating system that could plug into an LCD TV, collect and display email, browse the Web (with an additional Bluetooth keyboard and mouse at extra cost, of course) record live TV, download movies from iTunes or another home computer (PC or Mac) to display on the big screen – all at a sub Mac Mini price – I reckon Apple would be onto a deal clincher!

Maybe, maybe not, but everyone else is guessing so I might as well. Fingers crossed :0)

UPDATE
Maybe not, then. However, I still think they should lose the 40gb Apple TV version.

Steve Jobs is dead. Long live Steve Jobs

In an extremely grave error (sorry), Bloomberg accidently released an obituary that was being held on file ready for the day when the announcement was released. Oops! Silly Bloomberg.
Apparently, according to Gawker, Bloomberg were simply updating their 17 page file that hey held on the Apple computer founder and inadvertently ‘pressed the wrong button’.

Netscape Favicon in Apple Store

I recently placed an order at the Apple Store online. When I check the progress of my shipment I notice that this section of the store displays a favicon which looks like the Netscape logo. This seems pretty peculiar to me and a tad inconsistent on Apple’s part.

I know most people don’t look at favicons much, but if someone’s bookmarked this section, it’ll look odd in the list. Minute and probably not really worth mentioning, but everyone’s gone to bed and I’ve no one to talk to… not as though they’d be interested either. Time I got some sleep. I also notice that Apple haven’t updated their Timed-out screen on the store to fit in with their new look.
